At Olivenhain Guest Home we realize how important activities are to a resident’s overall health and well-being.
Our activity calendar includes a wide variety of activities so there is something for everyone. Our physical activities include daily exercise programs, games that encourage movement and can improve range of motion, and walks through our beautiful garden and down the road to visit a local horse ranch.
We have cognitive activities that help improve memory and brain function, that include word and picture puzzles, trivia and reminiscing. Our spiritual activities include a weekly church service, bible studies with volunteers from our community, and poetry and short stories that are calming and peaceful.
We recognize the importance of music therapy and dementia – it can invoke positive emotions and memories, calm agitation, stimulate cognitive brain function, and help coordinate motor movements. We offer live music seven days a week with a variety of musicians and genres. Our residents love our daily dance parties, and are encouraged to sing along, tap their toes, or keep the beat with percussion instruments! We also use music during our reminiscing programs to help residents recall special memories and events from their lives. Residents that are engaged in activities and preserve social connections can maintain a high quality of life despite the health challenges they face.
We strive to offer activities that keep our residents happy and healthy while living life to the fullest!
