A Memory Care Community
Olivenhain Guest Home has been providing comprehensive memory care programs for over 50 years and is recognized as one of the pioneers in developing specific programs to care for residents with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Our “Memory Care Community” team has designed a suite of National Dementia researched programs and activities to stimulate alertness and physical strength.
Our Memory Care Community programs use long-term memories and past experiences from our residents to stimulate their cognitive abilities. The specially trained Alzheimer’s and dementia staff are on duty 24/7 to ensure the residents receive the special attention they deserve. They work closely with our memory impaired residents to achieve a high level of independence and ensure that they get the most out of each day.
Olivenhain Guest Home’s Graceful Living program provides the highest quality transition of life care for your loved one to age in place while maintaining their quality of life and dignity. We have a newly designed wing, surrounded by beautiful gardens, and with larger rooms and more specialized equipment to serve our residents. There is a beautiful dining and activity room for those who need more assistance.
Our Graceful Living program provides Palliative Care (or palliative medicine). This care is the prevention and relief of suffering by a specialized medical team that focuses on managing symptoms, relieving pain, and improving quality of life, whatever the diagnosis.
We provide Hospice Agency Support and offer 20 beds specifically for hospice residents. We are confident that our Licensing agency provides an excellent program providing compassionate care for our residents through the end of their life.
We also offer daily rates for those very near the end of their life if they would prefer to be comfortable in our home, surrounded by those who love them including our specially trained staff and experts, rather than in a hospital setting.
We focus on ensuring that our residents in our Graceful Living program stay active as long as they are able. We encourage them to participate in enjoyable activities. We also provide their families and friends with lots of interaction and opportunities for spending quality time with their loved ones.
Celebrate Your Life– Our “Celebrate Your Life” Program focuses on our resident’s lives and memories. Residents can take advantage of a variety of classes, workshops, guest speakers, daily live music, and educational and entertaining videos. We feature cognitive activities that help improve memory and brain function, that include word and picture puzzles, trivia games, and reminiscing about the many experiences they have enjoyed throughout their lives.
Mind, Body, Spirit – This important program focuses on creating an individualized plan for fitness, health, nutrition, and spiritual nourishment. We create our daily activity calendar to ensure that there is an appropriate activity for everyone. Our program includes daily exercise, games that encourage movement and can improve range of motion, and walks through our beautiful gardens, and music therapy.
Our spiritual activities include a weekly non-denominational church service, bible studies with volunteers from our community, as well as poetry readings and short stories that are calming and peaceful. People of any faith are free to have their clergy, rabbi, or other spiritual leader come to minister to them. The importance of music therapy in treating dementia is widely known. We understand it’s importance in creating positive emotions and memories, calming agitation, stimulating cognitive brain function, helping coordinate motor movements, and fostering recall of special memories and events from their lives
Our residents enjoy the stimulation of live music seven days a week with a variety of musicians and genres. The residents enjoy our daily dance parties and many sing along, tap their toes, or play percussion instruments! Residents that are engaged in activities and preserve social connections can maintain a high quality of life despite the health challenges they face.
Compassionate Transition & Respite
This program offers caregivers the opportunity to bring their loved one to stay in our community for a limited period of time to give the caregiver a respite and also provide the resident a look at how their lives could be improved by living with us. We welcome you to contact us, come for a visit with your loved one, and take advantage of all the wonderful experiences we offer. We know it can be difficult to make a positive transition for both you and your loved one and we are here to assist you with making this decision. We look forward to your visit!
