I can appreciate the quality of care that goes into this place. The marketing director gave us a complete tour and was very informative . We are in the process of picking a place for my grandad and this feels like a home he can thrive in. The reason I'm giving it a 5is because they invited us for lunch and the food was restaurant quality and my gramps loves to eat.Less

My Mom has lived at the Olivenhain Guest Home for more than two years. I had cared for her at home for three years and was struggling to find the right place. I did not want a small, board and care home without enough eyes on her or accountability. And I did not want a large, corporate institution with decision-making far removed from patient care. Kind of like "Goldilocks and the Three Bears", Olivenhain Guest Home is just right. Owned and run by two caring professionals, and like a big family, it offers the warm, personal environment I was looking for. I visit often and always find a caring core of staff that, while others come and go - this is hard work - provide the care and love my Mom and other residents need and deserve. Gratefully, Dianne FletcherLess

I have been working here for years !! And I love love love what I do here! Residents are my motivation!!! Hank and Suzanne are by far the most involved owners I've known and their hearts are really in the right place! We have an AWESOME team and really just feels like home. I moved my mom to OGH a couple years ago after experiencing poor care, over charges, and neglect from a larger corporate owned facility. Ultimately, landing her in the hospital due to a untreated UTI which led to encephalopathy. Don’t be fooled by the glitz and glam of larger assisted-living/dementia care facilities. OGH is a charming smaller family owned home which provides unparalleled care! The owners Suzanne and Hank take pride in the home, listen to your concerns and take immediate action if needed. The administrators Kelly and Trudy go above and beyond and are very approachable. The entire staff from the owners all the way down treat the residents with loving care. It is not just a “job”. They spend time with the residents and get to know them. They get to know family members and truly give the best care one could hope for. I could finally sleep at night knowing my mom was in caring loving hands. An added bonus-great food, activities and entertainment AND they don’t nickel and dime you for various little extras!!! ❤️❤️❤️OGH!Less

My Mother has been at Olivenhain Guest home for nearly three years. She has Alzheimer's and is now unable to dress herself or feed herself. The care and love that the staff gives her is amazing. It is privately owned, not a coporate facility. The owners are very hands on and very responsive. The cost is reasonable and based on one fee for everything. So you are not nickeled and dimed with unexpected costs. I selected Olivenhain because of the low ratio of residents to staff, which means that there is more care and supervision than at other facilities. In addition, the residents can go in and out the front door to enjoy a large outdoor patio area. This gives the residents a sense of "going out", even though Olivenhain is a locked facility. The home is not fancy. They put their money into care and staff, rather than chandeliers and fancy decor. However, it is always clean and the residents enjoy many activities every day. You can always find family members visiting, which gives a sense of community for the whole family. I highly recommend Olivenhain Guest Home if your loved one has dementia or Alzheimer's and needs love and care.Less

Over the past several years I have had to place my two aunts and parents-in-law in senior care facilities. I feel I have seen them from the outside in and the inside out. There are big ones and little ones, all promising optimum care. After many experiences, I have found the best to be this guest home owned and operated by Suzanne and Hank Kurtz. They make their residents and their families a priority, listening to their needs and providing care that cannot be found anywhere else. They are personable, loving, caring and they go the extra mile every day of the year to give the finest quality attention and care possible. Their guest home is not a facility. Rather, it is a home with genuine attention to each resident. The grounds are peaceful and serene and the food better than home. Thank you Suzanne and Hank for giving so much to such precious charges. Alberta KeystoneLess

My Mother lived at Olivenhain Guest Home for the last four years and recently passed away amidst tears and love from their staff. I highly recommend the Olivenhain Guest Home. I have previously written about their excellent care and low ratio of caretakers to residents. All care is provided under one monthly fee--there are no hidden costs. Olivenhain is privately owned, which allows more fexibility for planning than one has at corporate facilities. The owners are very involved and hands-on in the day to day operations. They are always accessable for questions and return phone calls immediately. In the beginning, when she could walk around on her own, my Mother never felt "locked in", even though Olivenhain is a locked facility. My Mom could open the front door and walk right out into the lovely, large patio area. She participated in the activities which were designed to help her brain and body stay active. Plus there was always some type of musical event. As her Alzheimer's progressed and she became wheelchair bound, the staff would take her outside to enjoy the garden. Eventually, the staff had to feed, bathe, and dress her. They cut Mom's hair when needed and gave weekly manicures. She was treated with dignity and so much love. Many of the staff slipped into her room to say goodbye as Mom made her trip to the next world. There are no chandeliers and Olivenhain is not designer furnished. It looks more like Grandma's. It is always clean and filled with flowers that the more able residents arrange as one of their weekly acitivities. Olivenhain puts their money into training and providing extra staff, rather than decor. There is a visiting doctor who comes to the facility and checks residents who do not have their own physician. This saves many a trip to the Doctor's office or emergency room. We appreciated that our concerns were always taken seriously. In particular, communication improved between us and the nurse and the med tech staff. More accountability was incorporated for care takers' logs. Signs and electronic warning buzzers were put in place to indicate residents with fall risks or critical medical needs. We felt that our Mom was truy in a safe and caring place.Less
