I absolutely love Olivenhain Guest Home! It's a hidden GEM! I worked here while I was in school then came back a second time a few years later. Sadly I had to leave since then, but in my experience, this was the best facility. I found larger facilities to be good, but nowhere has same kind of compassion as OGH. This is a privately owned facility, not a corporation. The owners Hank and Suzanne take a personal interest in every resident. Kelly the administrator always advocates for her residents whether it's insurance related, doctors, hospice, or medical equipment, she fights hard for every resident. They expect the highest care from all staff member. Everyone in this building treats each resident like they were they're own parent or grandparent. That is what makes them so special! I recommend them to all friends and family with loved ones in need of long term care. They're expertise with memory care is unmatched!Less

A great place for a loved one suffering from dementia. My mother was a resident at Olivenhain Guest Home for over three years. The staff was friendly and caring, and some of them formed strong bonds with my mother. The facility offers lots of activities-I rarely saw residents alone in their rooms. The owners were very gracious to accommodate my mother's many needs, which increased over time. The facility is clean and has a large, beautiful courtyard. I highly recommend this facilityLess

mile to ensure the residents safety and comfort. Cleanliness is a top priority at OGH and everyone plays a part in this role. The owners Hank and Susan always spend many hours at the guest home ensuring a close relationship with every resident. I would highly recommend anyone who knows someone in need of memory care to come to OGH, because it's not just a facility but a home full of family.Less

I have had the honor and pleasure to be employed by Olivenhain Guest Home for just over 8 years. Our owners, Hank and Suzanne, are dedicated and actively involved, on a daily basis. In fact, I used to volunteer at OGH when I was a teenager, long before I met Hank and Suzanne, as even then, I had a big heart towards the elderly population. I did however meet Hank and Suzanne one morning shortly after moving back to California from Hawaii, and upon explaining my history with the community as a teenager I was delighted to be given a tour. Suzanne shared her excitement and plans for their remodeling project, and their dream of providing excellent loving care in a safe home like environment. The heart and love that Suzanne and Hank have to serve this population was so evident that I knew right away , I too wanted to serve and be a part of this amazing place. They care about the residents, the families, and their employees. In fact, they go far beyond the call of duty, for all. Olivenhain Guest Home is such a special gem, unique in delivering skilled, excellent care with patience, love and warmth.Less

I have had the opportunity to work with the owners and staff at Olivenhain Guest Home. The staff are caring, compassionate, and respectful towards both clients and family. Thy are detail orientated with treatment plans and attentive towards the needs of the clients. The owners, Suzanne and Hank, always have the patient's best interest in mind. They are kind, genuine people that focus on providing the best care possible. In their profession, difficult situations occur and I have observed their ability to manage these amazingly well. I would not hesitate to recommend Olivenhain Guest Home as placement option for a loved one.Less

Two years ago, we needed to find a care facility for our mother/mother in law to live. We visited several memory care facilities in the North County Coastal area. Many are run by large corporations, but Olivenhain Guest Home (OGH) is a family owned/run business. When we visited the OGH, the difference was immediately striking. The attitude of the owners and the staff were especially caring and more personalized. Activities, such as music 7 days a week and the large courtyard in front of the building, are specialties not found everywhere. Tomi Dutton has been pleased to live at OGH since she first visited with the owners, especially Suzanne. She seems to have found the best "home away from home" at OGH. The thoughtful staff greets guests at the door, which is a welcoming feeling right at the start, and is comforting, caring and thoughtful. There is something in the air that carries a warmth and thoughtfulness not seen in other care giving homes. The fact that it is called "Olivenhain Guest Home", rather than memory or Alzheimer's care, is indicative of the difference from other facilities. The passion of the owners, who have had parents with dementia and Parkinson's Disease, shows in the care and love they and their staff provide. We appreciate the care that has been helpful to Tomi and we appreciate the efforts of the caregivers.Less

I spent several days visiting and evaluating all the better memory care facilities in San Diego County for my then eighty-eight year old mother. She had reached the point of needing more personalized care than the more industrialized, residential, senior care facilities could deliver. Ultimately I decided on Olivenhain Guest Home because it is owned and operated by two very dedicated and experienced professionals who built the facility from scratch, with every aspect of its residents comfort in mind. It is modern, airy, bright, full of fresh air, and set in a beautifully landscaped garden. The property itself abuts large ranch/horse properties, so its immediate setting is quiet, rural, and serene. Within a few weeks of her arrival, my mother shocked me by saying she really liked OGH; how kind and patient the staff was. My mother had high expectations and could be demanding, but she told me repeatedly how much she enjoyed living there. (Before OGH, my mother lived five years at Casa de Manana in La Jolla, and three years at Emeritus in Camel Valley). It is without any reservations whatsoever that I highly recommend this home for your loved ones. You, and more importantly, they, will be happy you did!Less

My wife was afflicted with Alzheimer's and my family and I did an extensive review of the facilities in the area where we thought she would be well cared for and allow us the opportunity to visit with her day or night. Unanimously we agreed that the Olivenhain Guest Home was the best fit for her. She resided at the Olivenhain Guest Home for two and a half years until her passing and we feel that she was very well cared for by an attentive and caring staff.Less

My brothers and I are unanimous in our praise and gratitude to Olivenhain Guest Home. Our mother was given not just a lovely place to live, plenty to interest her and good food, she was treated with compassion, affection and sincerely loving care. My mother could not only enjoy the daily music program but sometimes even play the piano along with the presenter. She was able to do art projects when she wanted to and plant seeds and watch the garden grow in ways that she had always loved. A friend of ours had recommended Olivenhain as her mother had already lived there with Alzheimer's. My mother was released from life just a few weeks ago at age 95, and we feel deep thankfulness to all the staff of Olivenhain. They kept us informed and connected even when my mother could not. We trust them completely and would be happy to talk to anyone who is considering having a parent live in this residence with beautiful courtyard that feels like a true home.Less
